Drama, Disaster & Disappointment

I haven't posted in a few days... It's been an eventful time. I had wanted to post on Thanksgiving. I didn't and I feel bad about it. I had wanted to post something appropriate and just never got around to it. I had a very nice Thanksgiving day. *nods* I was slightly disappointed because Jill was coming down and I'd expected her earlier than she arrived. *shrugs* I guess that's more my fault than anything... I should have asked when she'd arrive rather than assume. Anyway, it was a very nice day. I got to spend it with some of the people that I love.

Today? Today was the killer. Black Friday! *nods* I had to be at work at four in the morning. *shakes head* Such a killer. We all know how much I love my job as of late and then when it's a day like today.... I was proud of myself today, however. I did things that were thought impossible and that is what excites me. When I had left work today, our dept. had done $101,000 in sales and to make our day we needed $110,000... shouldn't have been a problem.

I got a phone call this morning.... Jill's foster sister set their house on fire. Thankfully no one was hurt, Jill's dad quickly extinquished the fire and it was contained to one room. I was just soooo shocked. The kid has been taken to a mental institution and all I can say is that she is deeply troubled.

I hauled my butt up to Jill's after I got off work tonight to check on her and her family. When I finally got home there was a message on the answering machine for me. It turns out that I didn't get the job I applied for at the hospital. *shakes head* I guess it wasn't meant to be. It's just disappointing because my schedule sucks and I probably won't get to see Jill as much as I'd like. I'm still going to keep looking.... I want set hours and I'm sick of the way the scheduling is done at work. I'm sick of always working midshifts and closes...

Anyway... now that you have all the news, I think I'll call it an evening.

Mah-velous!!!

Life is fabulous at the moment. I had my interview for the job at the hospital today. By all accounts, it went quite well. I should know next week one way or the other about the job. I feel confident about how I interviewed, so now it's up to the powers that be. Jill and I went out to a nice supper this evening... I will get to spend the majority of my weekend with her. We are going to a wedding on Saturday but other than that, nothing planned. Just time with the woman I love.

I keep trying to figure out what I want to buy Jill for Christmas. I've considered many things... not the least of which is an engagement ring. I would love to give her a ring but things aren't quite as I'd like them to be just yet... Besides, I'd like to surprise her with that on another ocassion when I can do it up right. *chuckles* Ya'll know me... go big or go home! If anyone has any thoughts please feel free to help a guy out here. You ladies out there, tell me what you want from your guy... I'm more than willing to listen and learn.

Anyway... I should crawl to my bed. I'm VERY tired. I'm out!

Sweetness!

It's been a busy several days... I worked a seven day stretch since I had a weekend off and I've finally crashed long enough to update. I know I posted since Jill's banquet which was the weekend that I had off... It just doesn't feel like it. (And she hasn't posted in FOREVER!) Anyway....

Like I said, I worked a seven day stretch and darn near killed myself working freight like a fiend. I'm very proud to say that we've never gone into a holiday season with a back room looking this good. Our dept. has not a single pallet of freight in the stockroom except the stuff for Black Friday. We have taken over what used to be the Radio Grill and I must say, it's helping sales and saving us problems trying to get merchandise to our customers. I've taken it personally, trying to maintain the level of instock and a zero tolerance policy for freight in the back. Besides, it helps keep me away from the bane of my existence... the holiday shoppers. ;-)

Sunday night I got off of work at seven and hauled butt up to Jill's. *grins* Have I mentioned that I love that girl with all my heart? She was exhausted and pretty much was asleep from the time I got there. *nods* I ordered a pizza and crashed as well. Monday we just kinda chilled and then we went out for lunch, and started to go shopping. She got a call from her mom that we had to pick up her foster sister so we didn't get to do too much more shopping. *chuckles* We hung around the house, she cleaned a little and then we went to type up a list she made of the cars her dad collects. Then we went to Mark's to visit. We left there and picked up some munchies and went to bed. She worked today so she left early this morning and when I finally got up, I went shopping. I needed some new kicks because mine are shot. I went to the store, dropped off some photos and chatted for a few. Then I came home, cooked some supper, and we watched my nieces while my sister took my younger nephew to the doctor's. Now I'm just sitting here waiting for Seth... I dunno if he'll show or not. We're supposed to play some DoD tonight. *shrugs* Anyway... I'm gone!

Roundabout routine...

Here I sit, looking at the clock and knowing that I won't be calling Jill tonight. She starts her first shift job in the morning. My honey will now be working 7-3:30 so I'm hoping she starts getting some regular sleep, eating and taking care of herself. Just feels weird knowing that I won't be talking to her every night before I fall asleep.

I did get to see her tonight. She came and had supper with me. *sighs* I love that woman!

I'm hoping to hear from the hospital about the job I applied for in the next few days. I soooo badly want out of wal-mart. I don't think I can handle much more time in retail.

Anyway... With Jill now on day shift and with my status up in the air, my routine or what passes for one is pretty well gone. No more late night phone calls but I think we'll see much more of each other.

Anyway... I'm gonna go. I may even go to bed early.

Glorious... Simply glorious!

I had a marvelous weekend! I was concerned with how it would go but I simply had a wonderful weekend. *grins* I spent my entire weekend with the woman I love and I am having a difficult time imagining myself happier.

Saturday I picked her up and we went to the banquet. Not really my type of scene as you all know. Lots of people, alcohol and well... yeah. Anyway, Jillian spent the bulk of the evening with me which put me a bit more at ease and she even coaxed me into dancing with her. *smiles* She's amazing.

Sunday was so nice. We both woke up kinda early and just bummed around. Finally we both took a nap and when we got up, Jill made a delicious meal. After which we went to the firehall, played on the computer a little and then shot a few games of pool. Just a relaxing day. I loved spending some down time with Jill. Made me feel more at ease than I have in a long time.

Today I had to go back to work. I got up extra early so I could come home and fill out an application for a new job. It's at the hospital where my mom works but in a different dept. From what I hear, it's Monday through Friday, no weekends, no holidays and set hours of 6:30-3. I'm hoping and praying that I land this job! Please, if you're the praying type, send up a few for me!

Anyway... that's all the news. Or a reasonable facsimile. I'm outtie!

untitled

Take the time to really stop and see
Take the time to make me really happy
Take the time, it’s absolutely free
Take the time… and just love me!

All I want is some time and your devotion
Find some time and express some real emotion
Find some time and cause a sweet commotion
Find some time to love as deep as the ocean

When it all feels perfectly all right
It’s just you and me holding on through the night
I still lose my breath when you come into sight
So take some time and share love’s light

Questions, questions and questions

It is said that to be happy in life you must find that one thing that matters more than all others. I’m not sure that is entirely accurate. I believe it’s more a matter of priorities and what comes before what. There are many things important in life, but are you able to prioritize them? What is worth holding on to and what should you sacrifice? Is there room for questions, bumps in the road and will the answers be honest or merely holding on to dreams and fantasy? When does one let go of something important? How and when do you know that no matter how hard you work it just isn’t going to be as you wish? Can a compromise be reached and still make you content? I don’t have these answers and even if I did know them… Would they be the right answers for anyone other than me? What is important? Being true to yourself, love, being honest with yourself and those in your life, doing the right thing and being selfless. I think those are the five major things that need to be addressed. If you have four of the five… you still won’t be happy. What is the purpose? Where are the answers? Are you willing to look for them?
