In Memoriam

As you probably know, I hold the people who defend this country and our freedom in the highest regard. It's these people who willingly put their life in danger, leave their families and loved ones and do a often times thankless job that makes our country great. More so those who have given the last full measure of dedication and laid down their lives to defend our beliefs and way of life.... Once again I bring to you the words of two of presidents because I cannot find the words to properly express what I feel and wish to convey. Happy Memorial Day to you all and let us never forget.

"In America's cities and towns today, flags will be placed on graves in cemeteries; public officials will speak of the sacrifice and the valor of those whose memory we honor.
In 1863, when he dedicated a small cemetery in Pennsylvania marking a terrible collision between the armies of North and South, Abraham Lincoln noted the swift obscurity of such speeches. Well, we know now that Lincoln was wrong about that particular occasion. His remarks commemorating those who gave their ``last full measure of devotion'' were long remembered. But since that moment at Gettysburg, few other such addresses have become part of our national heritage -- not because of the inadequacy of the speakers, but because of the inadequacy of words.
I have no illusions about what little I can add now to the silent testimony of those who gave their lives willingly for their country. Words are even more feeble on this Memorial Day, for the sight before us is that of a strong and good nation that stands in silence and remembers those who were loved and who, in return, loved their countrymen enough to die for them.
Yet, we must try to honor them -- not for their sakes alone, but for our own. And if words cannot repay the debt we owe these men, surely with our actions we must strive to keep faith with them and with the vision that led them to battle and to final sacrifice.
Our first obligation to them and ourselves is plain enough: The United States and the freedom for which it stands, the freedom for which they died, must endure and prosper. Their lives remind us that freedom is not bought cheaply. It has a cost; it imposes a burden. And just as they whom we commemorate were willing to sacrifice, so too must we -- in a less final, less heroic way -- be willing to give of ourselves."

-- Ronald Reagan (memorial day 1982)

"Every Memorial Day, Americans remember the debt of gratitude we owe to our veterans who gave their lives for our country. On this important day, communities across our Nation stop to remember and to honor the great sacrifices made by our men and women in uniform.
Since its beginnings, our country has faced many threats that have tested its courage. From war-torn battlefields and jungle skirmishes to conflicts at sea and air attacks, generations of brave men and women have fought and died to defeat tyranny and protect our democracy. Their sacrifices have made this Nation strong and our world a better place.
Upwards of 48 million Americans have served the cause of freedom and more than a million have died to preserve our liberty. We also remember the more than 140,000 who were taken prisoner-of-war and the many others who were never accounted for. These memories remind us that the cost of war and the price of peace are great.
The tradition of Memorial Day reinforces our Nation's resolve to never forget those who gave their last full measure for America. As we engage in the war against terrorism, we also pray for peace. When America emerged from the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln called on all Americans to "cherish a just and lasting peace." In these extraordinary times, our Nation has once again been challenged, and Lincoln's words remain our guiding prayer.
We continue to rely on our brave and steadfast men and women in uniform to defend our freedom. United as a people, we pray for peace throughout the world. We also pray for the safety of our troops. This new generation follows an unbroken line of good, courageous, and unfaltering heroes who have never let our country down.
As we commemorate this noble American holiday, we honor those who fell in defense of freedom. We honor them in our memory through solemn observances, with the love of a grateful Nation."

-- George W. Bush (memorial day 2002)

Pouring out my heart and soul

I feel like crap tonight.... I went to Jill's last night and I knew she was tired. That's fine. I understand. She fell asleep not too long after I was there and any fool could see she needed some sleep so it's all good. This morning she had to cover at the Fire Dept. *sighs* We all know that this isn't my favorite thing, but I try to get along with it because I know she loves this life. Even if she complains terribly about it, she's not gonna leave it. The tones went off today while I was at the firehall with her and off she went... Ok, she's on duty this is how it is. I got that. What's eating at me... gnawing through the core of my being, is that I feel like I'm always fighting for time with her. If it's not one thing, it's another and I feel like I'm trying to swim against the strongest tide in the world. I love her with all of my heart and I hate that when I feel this way I upset her. She is EVERYTHING to me. I know she loves me and I know this is the life she lives. I know that she's gonna take off running when her pager goes off... I'm pretty sure I can deal with this. What I'm having the hard time with is the fight for time. Perhaps I'm too needy... I don't know.

"Let Me Love You"
Tim McGraw

"Sometimes I close my eyes
And imagine you're with me
Chasing passion into the night
All tangled in a dream.

Oh if you could see my heart
The way I feel inside
You would know just how far
I'm willing to go to get to you
There is nothing I won't do.

Show me what its like to lose control
Free the desire in your soul
Oh oh let me love you.

Let me take you to a place like no where else
Show you the things you never felt
Oh oh let me love you.

Oh I want to taste your kiss
Be the reason for your smile
Touch the magic on your skin
Be the one that drives you wild.

Oh if you could read my mind
You'd know you're everything I need
You'd see yourself through my eyes
You may understand what I'm going through
Just how much I want you.

Show me what its like to lose control
Free the desire in your soul
Oh oh let me love you.

Let me take you to a place like no where else
Show you the things you never felt
Oh oh let me love you.

Let me love you.
Let me love you!

Show you what its like to lose control
Free the desire in your soul
Oh oh let me love you.

Let me take you to a place like no where else
Show you the things you never felt
Oh oh let me love you.

Oh I love you.

Show you what its like to lose control
Free the desire in your soul
Oh oh let me love you.

Yeah baby.

Let me take you to a place like no where else
Show you the things you never felt
Oh oh let me love you.

Let me love you.
Let me love you.
Let me love you.
Let me love you."

What a weekend!!!

So I was sooo looking forward to this weekend.... It certainly was an eventful one. *smirks and shakes head*

Saturday I got up and went to Madisonburg to pick up a new pair of boots to wear at Seth's wedding. While I was there I picked up a new belt for my Star Wars belt buckle. It was a nice drive and I enjoyed being out. I had hoped that Jill would go along but she had worked Friday night and needed to get some sleep. I had asked my mom to go along but it didn't fit into her schedule either so I went by my lonesome. All in all it was a good time even if it was just me. I got home and Mom and Monica had already left for Vanessa's bridal shower so I just kinda hung out and cleaned up my room a little. I called Jillian and let her know to call me when she finally got up. Mom and Monica came home and I talked to them a little. Mom of course subtlely and not so subtlely jabbed about not knowing Jill and things... *sighs* Anyway... Jill called and I went up. We hung at Mark and Christina's until two or three in the morning and then we crashed at her place.

Sunday we were going to the fire expo in Harrisburg at the Farm Show Arena. We had an offer to ride along with a bunch of people from the fire company or even just follow them but we decided to drive ourselves... I didn't really want to be cooped up in a car with a bunch of people and they were leaving early in the morning. When we finally got around and got going... *sighs* Bad things, man, bad things... It was a fiasco. Not kewl. I'm not putting details here because frankly I want to forget about it. We finally got there and I think Jill enjoyed herself. I felt like a schmuck most of the day. I knew I had screwed up so I was intent on trying to make this as enjoyable as possible for her. We got back in the afternoon/early evening and decided to take a nap. I woke up waaaay before Jill who told me that I should of woken her up... RIIIIIIIGHT! I had tried a coupla times and her mom tried a few as well. NOT HAPPENING! *chuckles* Anyway... after Jill finally got up, her mom did something to her leg. She couldn't walk... Jill and her dad took her to the hospital in the ambulance. Jill didn't get back with her mom until five in the morning and she was about as upset as I've ever seen her. She'd lost her pager. She decided to go out looking for it... Thankfully she found it and got back about six a.m. I had to work at two... *checks clock* yesterday (since it's after midnight) so we went to bed. I had to leave her place around noon to make it to work on time.

Today... or yesterday since it is after midnight, work was alright... *nods* Day one of a seven day stretch is done. LOL! Anyway... I'm gonna go but I just hafta say this....

Jill, I love you more than I can ever say. You're too good to me and I don't deserve you. I love you today, tomorrow, and forever. You're my everything and I'm so glad that you're in my life.

Alright... now I'm out like a fat kid in dodgeball!

Half-hearted hope

I feel so... "blah" tonight. I have no clue why I feel the way I do. I can't even really explain how it is that I feel. It's like everything in my soul has been drowned by this wet blanket being wrapped around me and overwhelming me with a fog of listlessness. That's not even quite it but it's the best explanation I can give. All I want tonight is to curl up in the arms of the woman I love and let it all pass. In her arms I feel safe, protected, loved and I KNOW everything will be ok. Unfortunately she works tonight and I have to be at work early in the morning so my only hope is for sleep to take me quickly and pray I'm better in the morning. This weekend I'll get to spend a ton of time with Jill and I hope it's a huge dose of the medicine that keeps this particular illness at bay... I hate feeling this way. Anyway... I'm going to bed and if I'm lucky I'll dream beautiful dreams of my sweetie.

Perhaps an actual update

Ahhh yes... *grins* I don't really have any earth-shattering news or long winded rants or even mildly amusing insights that I really want to post. I do however, feel the need to update. I want to put up an interesting post that I can be proud of. I just don't know how to go about that any longer. Perhaps if I just keep typing the words will flow and they may even come together in some form that is acceptable.

My day started out early today. I was meeting Jillian for breakfast after she got off work. I gotta say that I love when she makes time for me... makes me feel so important, special and so loved. At the same time, I can't wait until we don't have to scramble to find time. When I won't feel like I'm making her ignore important things like getting some sleep to spend time with me.

After breakfast I went to wal-mart to get some gatorade because we were playing basketball today. I got to the park an hour early so I stretched out in the backseat of my car and caught a half hour nap before we played ball. Had a good time as usual. No one got majorly hurt. A few bumps and bruises on some of us as usual... I got a poke in the eye but it's all good.

After I got home from playing ball... I got a shower and put a roast in the oven for supper. I caught another nap. *grins innocently* After I got back up, I finished up making supper and have been just kinda chilling ever since. Played a little DoD, been watching the basketball games and just having a nice relaxing evening.

I work the next two days and then I have the weekend off with my baby. She wants to go to the fire expo down in Harrisburg and I need to make a trip to get some new boots for Seth's wedding. I'm really looking forward to just spending time with Jill this weekend and having a good time. I'm not really into the whole "fire" thing but it's time with the woman I love and if she's happy then I'm happy. Hopefully on my boot run I'll get a new belt for the Star Wars belt buckle I bought back at my birthday... :-D Anyways... I'm outtie!

What a wondeful world

Today was a great day... *grins* I got up early this morning because Jillian was coming down to finish that DVD for her parent's anniversary. We finished that and chilled a little bit and then unfortunately she had to leave. I went back to bed and caught a bit of a nap. When I got up I just hung out with Mom and Monica for a while.

Mom and I finally got around and went up to Gram and Pap's to do a bit of yardwork for them... a little mowing and some pruning of brush and things. While we were at the grandparent's it thunderstormed. I LOVE thunderstorms! There is just something about watching the unbridled energy of a storm. You all know that I used to watch storms with my Dad and of course it brings back good memories... It also reminds me of Jill and I's first date... I love you, baby!

Anyway... We then came home and just kinda relaxed tonight. I put together a DVD for Mother's Day for my Mom which she doesn't know about... I hope it goes over well. I watched the basketball game tonight and now I'm watching an old school Bull's game. I'm gonna goof around until it's time to call Jill and then I guess I'll go to bed.

Yep... that's an exciting update. I believe I'm falling back into the rut of terrible updates and posts... I'm gonna hafta work on that. *smirks* In the mean time, I'm outtie!

Whole lotta nothin

Yep... that's what's been going on with me. Nothing of any significance to you. My life has been busy lately but not with anything anyone else would care to hear about. Is that how it is with most people? Is this what it's like to be a responsible adult? To always be busy and when people ask what's going on, have to fall back on saying "not much"? This week was kinda cool, worked third shift Sun, Mon, went to breakfast with Jill Tuesday morning and then went to play basketball... Worked Weds and Thurs. Had my evaluation at work on Thurs. and I'm getting a forty cent raise. Woot! Good things! Jillian came down last night. We worked on a DVD for her parent's anniversary and then she left this afternoon. I worked on what I could for the DVD and burned a couple of cds for an associate at work. That's been my life... Jill is coming over in the morning to work on finishing the DVD and I have no real plans for the weekend... On the plus side... I stole a bunch of pics of Jill working on the DVD... I'm trying to decide whether I should post any of them or not... *ponders*

Anyway... I'm gonna go. Basketball game is on. If you wanna see any pics... you'll hafta let me know. ;-)

Headline help needed

I haven't posted much as of late. I haven't really had a whole lot going on that I thought noteworthy.

What's been going on? I've been spening massive amounts of time with the love of my life. *grins* I'm working third shift a couple of days this week. As a matter of fact I'm about to head out to work now. I'm gonna meet Jill in the morning for breakfast.

Today is my mom's 50th birthday. Happy half a century to my momma! We went out to Olive Garden for supper tonight. Good times.

Anyway... I've gotta get my butt on my way to work. Hope everyone has been watching the NBA playoffs... It's been exciting thus far!
